TeamUp alternative

A TeamUp alternative with belts, grades and youth-sport tools

TeamUp and ClubTide share a lot: published prices by size, a single plan, no contract, your own payment processor with no fee on payments, and family accounts. ClubTide is built around progression and youth sport, with belt and grade tracking, promotion readiness and exams, federation licences and medical certificates, consents and GDPR tools, and a 14-day free trial.

Similar ideas, a different focus

TeamUp is booking and membership software for group fitness, yoga, CrossFit, gyms, martial arts and kids' activities, used in more than 40 countries. It has one plan priced by the active customers of the previous month (anyone who booked or bought), month-to-month billing, free data import and no fee on payments made through your own Stripe or GoCardless account. Its interface is available in English, Spanish, French and German.

ClubTide follows the same principles and focuses on clubs whose members progress over years: ranks and promotion readiness, belt tests, attendance by group, family billing with a parent portal, and the licences, medical certificates and consents that come with youth sport. It is used by martial arts gyms, sports clubs, dance studios and music schools, in English, Romanian, German, Spanish and French.

If you sell drop-in classes, products and gift cards, TeamUp may remain the better fit. If your members train toward their next belt or grade, read on.

Published prices, compared tier by tier

Both products publish one price per size of club. ClubTide costs $49 a month for up to 50 active athletes, $79 for up to 100, $129 for up to 200 and $179 for up to 400. TeamUp's first band covers 0 to 100 customers at $119 (€99) a month, then $189 (€149) up to 200 and $249 (€229) for 301 to 400. ClubTide counts active athletes, while archived members, parents and staff never count; TeamUp counts customers who booked or bought in the previous month.

With both, members pay into your own processor account and the software adds no fee. ClubTide connects to Stripe, PayPal or Authorize.net.

  • A smaller plan for clubs with up to 50 athletes
  • Every feature and location in every plan
  • 14-day free trial without a card

Belts, grades and exams built in

ClubTide has belt and grade tracking built in. Start from a preset (BJJ, karate, taekwondo, judo, Qwan Ki Do, dance grades, ballroom medals, music grades or levels) or build your own with curriculum sections and skills. ClubTide shows who is ready for promotion from classes attended, months at rank, age, required skills and coach approval. Families register for belt tests in the portal and the testing fee lands on the family invoice.

  • Promotion readiness from attendance and skills
  • Single or bulk promotions, always made by a coach
  • Rank history that cannot be altered

Licences, certificates and consents

Track federation licences, medical certificates and insurance for every athlete, with expiry reminders for families and a digest for staff. Families upload renewals from the portal, and an optional check-in block stops athletes with an expired licence. Consent forms are versioned with PDF copies, medical notes stay hidden from staff without permission, and a member's data can be exported or anonymized in one step. Data is hosted in the EU (Germany).

  • Licence and certificate expiry reminders
  • Renewals uploaded by families from the portal
  • Consents, data exports and anonymization for GDPR

A parent portal in five languages

In ClubTide the family is the account holder: several guardians, each with their own login, any number of children, one invoice with a sibling discount and one saved card for autopay. Parents follow each child's schedule, attendance, rank and progress, pay invoices and sign consents from any phone, without installing an app. Staff and parents each choose English, Romanian, German, Spanish or French.

  • Several guardians per family, each with their own login
  • Per-lesson billing and class packs next to memberships
  • Private lessons with conflict warnings

When TeamUp may suit you better

TeamUp includes things ClubTide does not offer: a native member app with an optional branded app, kiosk check-in and access control, a point of sale with a card reader, a store and gift cards, GoCardless direct debit, and a Marketing Suite with a CRM. It also supports courses, waitlists and appointments, and connects to Zapier. If those tools are central to your studio, TeamUp is a strong choice.

ClubTide is a better fit when your members progress through belts or grades, many of them are children, and you need licences, medical certificates and consents in one place, with PayPal or Authorize.net as options and Romanian among the languages.

Still have questions? Email us and we will get back to you.

How do ClubTide and TeamUp prices compare?

Both publish one price per size. ClubTide costs $49 a month for up to 50 active athletes, $79 for up to 100 and $129 for up to 200; TeamUp lists $119 (€99) for 0 to 100 customers and $189 (€149) for 101 to 200. The two count members differently, so compare with your own numbers and check goteamup.com for current prices.

Can I keep my own Stripe account?

Yes. ClubTide works with your club's own Stripe, PayPal or Authorize.net account. Payments go straight to your account at the processor's standard rate, and ClubTide adds no fee.

Can I import my customers from TeamUp?

Yes. Export your customer list as a CSV file and upload it to ClubTide. The importer matches the columns, shows a preview and skips duplicates before anything is saved.

Will my members' saved cards move over?

Saved cards cannot be copied between software providers. Families save their card again in the ClubTide parent portal, either when they pay their first invoice or from the payments page.

Does ClubTide have an app or a kiosk like TeamUp?

ClubTide has no native app or tablet kiosk. Parents and members use the portal in their phone's browser and check in by scanning a QR code at the entrance, and coaches take attendance from their phone.
